A professional life as a digital legacy

Amerpass is being developed to preserve human experience as a documented professional biography. Education, work, creative contributions, research, civic initiatives and the transmission of knowledge become a connected history in which significant entries remain linked to their sources.

An encyclopedic biography for every person

The project aims to give every person the opportunity to present a meaningful account of their life in an encyclopedic format. The story of a teacher, physician, journalist, actor, engineer or other professional can include a chronology, publications, projects, interviews, achievements and contributions to other people’s lives. Résumés and concise extracts are individual uses of this fuller history.

Sources, context and relationships

Records, original publications, archival materials, photographs and memories help recover the context of events. The project is designed to retain the provenance of information and distinguish documentary sources, personal recollections and information that needs clarification. Extracted information should undergo human review before it is included in a biography.

Co-authorship, mentorship, shared projects and organizational participation connect individual biographies. These relationships can show how knowledge and experience pass between people and generations.

A private archive or a public history

The owner chooses what remains private, what is shared with selected people and what is presented publicly. An encyclopedic biography in Amerpass is an independent publication format on the platform; it does not imply inclusion in Wikipedia.

Memory for future generations

The mission of Amerpass is to help preserve professional histories for future generations so that the results of human work remain accessible, understandable and useful. Long-term preservation is a development goal. Delivering it requires durable formats, data export, backup storage and cooperation with archives, libraries and technology partners.

How people can participate

Libraries, archives, professional communities and technology partners can discuss pilots, information architecture, accessibility and long-term preservation.

Where the project stands

The platform is under development. Amerpass does not issue identity documents, licenses, accreditations or official determinations of professional status.
